Contents
The course takes a closer look at management and organization theories. Discussed in the context of organizations driven by a social or environmental mission, these theories provide insights into why organizations exist, how they function and how they interact with each other. The course addresses theories such as transaction cost theory, agency theory or institutional theory. Studying management and organizations theories from the perspective of mission-driven organization helps us deepen our understanding of the potential conflict between creating financial value on the one hand and pursuing social and environmental objectives on the other. This provides insights into many issues that companies face when implementing sustainability strategies.
