Process pipelines for antibody (AB) production: polyclonal, monoclo-nal, recombinant Abs, biosystems and bioreactor
Downstream processing of Abs
Diagnostic and therapeutic AB formulations
Vaccine Technologies
Genetic immune modulation technologies Crspr/Cas9
Manipulation of immune cells and host immune mediators for targeted therapies in Personalized Medicine, e.g. in cancer, HIV, auto-immune disease, malaria, leukaemia
Organ transplantation: organ rejection through immune incompatibili-ties, immune-suppression, biotechnology strategies
Recombinant production of immune-modulatory signaling molecules
New trends in diagnostic immune-technologies (e.g. label-free point-of-care systems, blood analyser, etc.)
Nano-immuno-technology
Educational objectives and skills:
Students shall
learn and understand the concepts of innate versus adaptive immune reaction
comprehend ways to manipulate immune system reaction through humoral and cellular means
embrace the relationship between genetic diversity and immunological compatibility and be able to depict strategies for genetic manipulation to enforce such compatibility
be able to understand the concept of Personalized Medicine in designing tailored immune-strategies for selected diseases and name strategies to target immune cells, cancer cells and pathogens
be able to critically evaluate the technological advances over the individual benefits and risks associated with immune biotechnology approaches
