- This seminar is intended to deepen the understanding of diatopic variation in England, as treated in the Hauptseminar “Accents and Dialects in England” taught by Prof. Judith Huber. We will also explore other dimensions of linguistic variation in England past and present, namely diastratic variation (depending on social variables like education, class, and gender) as well as diaphasic variation (along different communicative settings). By hands-on exercises participants will expand their toolkit for analysing linguistic material and prepare for writing term papers.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the class will take place online, using Zoom and StudOn. Further information will follow in due course.
