3-D Catheter localization for Cardiac Ablation Procedures using biplane FluoroscopyAtrial fibrillation is one of the most common sustained
heart arrhythmia and a
leading cause of stroke. The treatment by catheter ablation,
a minimally
invasive procedure performed using fluoroscopic image
guidance, has become the
treatment of choice.Fluoroscopic overlay images rendered from pre-operative
volumetric data, e.g.
CT, MRI, or C-Arm CT, provide additional guidance for
physicians during these
catheter ablations. The aim of this research project is the development of an
integrated system for planning, navigation and verification
of electrophysiological (EP) investigations and ablation
procedures.
The Research project includes the following subprojects:
Catheter localization in biplane fluoroscopy images
meaningful visualization for navigation and verification
semi- or fully-automatic 2D/3D registration of 3-D volume
data sets to biplane fluoroscopy images of a patient
