(englische Bezeichnung: Applied Micro- and Nanostructure Research)
(Prüfungsordnungsmodul: Applied Micro- and Nanostructure Research)

Modulverantwortliche/r: Erdmann Spiecker
Lehrende: Erdmann Spiecker, Mingjian Wu, Stefanie Rechberger, Johannes Will, Benjamin Apeleo-Zubiri

Start semester: WS 2020/2021Duration: 2 semesterCycle: jährlich (WS)
Präsenzzeit: 60 Std.Eigenstudium: 90 Std.Language: Deutsch und Englisch

Lectures:

    • Practical Course Electron Microscopy I (WS 2020/2021)
(Praktikum, 1,5 SWS, Anwesenheitspflicht, Erdmann Spiecker et al.)
    • Practical Course Electron Microscopy II (SS 2021)
(Praktikum, 2,5 SWS, Anwesenheitspflicht, Erdmann Spiecker et al., Thu; 4 experiments on 4 full days, presumably on Thursdays during the semester. In accordance with the practical course supervisors. After having finished all experiments of "Practical Course Electron Microscopy I & II", all students of module "Applied Micro- and Nanostructure Research (IMN_M2/M7/M9_MWT)" need to give a graded talk about one selected experiment on a separate day (10 min talk + 5 min questions), most probably in the IMN seminar room 00.160, IZNF, Cauerstraße 3.)

Inhalt:

Practical introduction, application and hands-on experience of TEM and SEM techniques for materials characterization. Recommended is the assignment to the module “Scanning Electron Microscopy in Materials Science and Nanotechnology”. The practical courses is organized as follows: Practical Course Electron Microscopy I (WS): • 3 days of practical course “as block” during the first week of the semester break in February Practical Course Electron Microscopy II (SS): • 4 days of practical course during the lecture period

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Die Studierenden

Verstehen
• Deeper knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of electron microscopy techniques
Anwenden
• Hands-on experience on SEM and TEM instruments • Application of advanced microcopy techniques
Evaluieren (Beurteilen)
• Fundamentals of image and data analysis

Literatur:

Dieses Modul ist daneben auch in den Studienfächern "Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik (Master of Science)" verwendbar. Details

Studien-/Prüfungsleistungen:

Applied Micro- and Nanostructure Research (Prüfungsnummer: 62821)
Prüfungsleistung, Präsentation, Dauer (in Minuten): 15, benotet, 5 ECTS
Anteil an der Berechnung der Modulnote: 100.0 %
weitere Erläuterungen:
Every experiment of the practical course is accompanied by a protocol, which is not graded, but proof of attendance is given and required to successfully finish the course and module. One of the seven experiments is to be chosen to give a separated seminar talk after having finished all experiments at the end of the second semester. The talk should be 10 min talk + 5 min of questions. The talk can also be given in groups of two students (total length 20 min talk + 10 min of questions).
