Inhalt:

Calculus:

  • Foundations of Calculus: complex numbers, polynomials and roots, rational functions, trigonometric functions, the exponential function and logarithms

  • Calculus: limits, derivatives, integration, antiderivatives, partial integration, integration by substitution, simple differential equations

Basic Stats:

  • Basic concepts of stochastic: distributions, expected value, variance, covariance

  • Basic concepts of statistics: samples, mean value, quantiles, corellation

  • Intuitive statistics: Scatter diagrams, box plots,

  • Estimators: Estimators for expected value and variance, hypothesis testing, linear regression

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

The students

  • can perform computations with complex numbers, polynomials and roots, rational functions, trigonometric functions, the exponential function and logarithms, limits, derivatives and integrals.

  • know solution strategies for common problems of calculus.

  • understand the connection between the concepts of calculus and the application in the natural sciences.

  • are able to use calculus as a tool for modelling processes in the natural sciences.

  • understand the basic concepts of stochastic and statistics

  • can perform calculations with the concepts of stochastic and statistics

  • can observe statistical properties of samples from plots of the data

  • are able to estimate the properties of a distribution from a sample
