- Das Proseminar/Mittelseminar Linguistics gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:
BA English and American Studies: Zwischenmodul II Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Zwischenmodul I: Thematisches Kombinationsmodul)
Lehramt Englisch an Gymnasien: Zwischenmodul L-GYM Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Basismodul Linguistics; Studienbeginn ab WS 2020/21: beide Basismodule Linguistics)
Lehramt Englisch an Grund-, Mittel- und Realschulen: Seminarmodul L-UF Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Elementarmodul Linguistics; Studienbeginn ab WS 2020/21: beide Elementarmodule Linguistics)

Due to the latest COVID-19 regulations, winter term classes shall, if possible, be taught in presence again. The first session, however, will be online. The further procedure will be discussed during the first session.
- Inhalt
- This seminar will take a closer look at the vocabulary of present-day English. One focus will be on lexical semantics, which studies the meanings of lexical or 'content' words, including sense relations such as synonymy, hyponymy or converseness. Moreover, the seminar will cover topics such as lexical fields, syntagmatic relations (e.g. collocations and idioms), metaphor and metonymy, and word formation. We will study these with the help of corpora and we will also have a look at the ways in which words and their relationships are treated in dictionaries.
