- This class will accompany Prof Dabrowska's HS Controlled and automatic processes in language learning and use.
The aim of this class is to provide practical insights that are related to the Seminar Controlled and automatic processes in language learning and use. We will go through a number of experiments that relate to the topic of explicit (controlled) vs. implicit (automatic) learning in language acquisition in the following way: participate in the experiment, and then discuss the methodology and results. In addition, we can design a simple experiment, run it, and analyze the results, or carry out a small corpus study, e.g. compare the differences in mistakes of children acquiring English as their first language against the ones of adult second language learners of English.
