Topic: Machine Learning for Wireless Communications
Wireless communication technology is going through a revolutionary change with every new generation of cellular systems where each generation has provided significant new capabilities. The next-generation (5G and Beyond) wireless networks are expected to support ultra-reliable, low-latency, and high data-rate communications among a massive number of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices in real-time and within a highly dynamic environment. This requires intelligent adaptive learning and decision making which can be realized by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) across the wireless infrastructure and end-user devices. AI and ML enable future smart mobile terminals to autonomously access spectral bands and adaptively adjust their transmission strategies using sophisticated spectral-efficiency, energy-efficiency, and quality-of-service learning and inference techniques. Participants in this seminar will acquire knowledge about the state of the art, advances, and challenges in communication system design based on machine learning.
