Contents
Increasing globalization of business activities and the rising importance of project structures for business activities in general prompt companies worldwide to develop and strengthen their capabilities for managing global projects. Therefore, future professionals capable of successfully managing projects across geographical and cultural borders will have excellent career prospects. To prepare students for the task of managing global projects, course topics include: Particularities and organizational structures of global projects, cultural influences (effects and remedies), managerial control of globally distributed projects, as well as challenges and trends in IS outsourcing/offshoring initiatives, etc.
For each of these topics, students will be given an introduction to the topic (knowledge transfer) and then work on Harvard case studies to gain deeper insights into the topic (knowledge application). In addition, students will work in teams on a project from a real-life case scenario.

Learning Goals & Competences
The course follows a student-centric learning approach building on cycles of knowledge transfer and application. The objective is to impart a mix of soft skills (discussion, presentation, team work) and hard skills (project management approaches and techniques) to the students.
