The Arabian Peninsula seems to be the epicenter of hegemonic rivalry in the MENA region. In this seminar we do not only look at the international level in order to explain implications for the region. In particular we look at the interplay of the international, regional and domestic level in order to explain the ‘what’, ‘why’ and ‘how’. Conceptually the course builds on literature derived from IR and Comparative Politics. Empirically we have a closer look at the blockade of Qatar, the war in Yemen and the Saudi-Iranian conflict.
