Contents
In the interdisciplinary course "Digital Psychology Lab" for students of psychology and medical engineering, current issues in the fields of digital health and stress research are examined in groups. This research-oriented course aims to strengthen the cooperation between the individual disciplines. In addition to the planning, implementation and analysis of a research question in groups, there will also be teaching units of the different disciplines during the semester (psychology: biological basics of behavior and experience, hypothesis-led planning and execution of experimental and field studies, collection of biomarkers, evaluation of biomarkers in the laboratory, inferential statistics; medical engineering: data analysis in Python, version control of program code, human-machine interaction, acquisition and processing of biosignals, machine learning).
The aim of the course is to use and combine the individual strengths of both disciplines so that both can benefit from each other. Students will use their discipline’s competences in interdisciplinary teams in order to benefit from each other.
Topics covered will include but are not limited to:
• Overview of current topics in the field of machine learning and data analytics for stress research
• Best practices for presentation and scientific work
• Best practices for hypothesis-led planning and implementation of experimental and field studies
