- Contents
- The course deals with the socialization of children and youth in an increasingly diverse society and provides an introduction to the basic concepts of diversity and diversity education. Students will discuss theoretical foundations and practices of diversity education. They will also take into account interdisciplinary and international perspectives on diversity. A particular consideration is given to transformative educational experiences when individuals cross the boundaries of categories that are used to describe and shape their identities (e.g.
sex change, religious conversion or change of citizenship). The seminar is designed for German and international students. The working language will be English. The students will have an opportunity to use English for academic purposes and to develop their skills in analyzing academic texts, making presentations, and in academic writing. The questions that refer to this seminar in the exam for the module “Allgemeine Pädagogik II” may be answered in English or in German.
