Die Veranstaltung "BA/MA and MA-2 Representations of Tibet: East and West: Filmscreening" ist diesem Seminar zugeordnet.

Contents
This course will focus on representations of Tibetan identity across a variety of media, including, but not limited to, Hollywood films, native documentary film-making, Yuan and Ming dramas, Tibetan art and material culture, and late-20th century music composed in communities in both the TAR (PRC) and the Tibetan diaspora. Our discussion of this diverse multimediatic field will be supplemented by readings that have been selected to highlight different ways in which Tibet and Tibetan speakers have been imagined and constituted in the years leading up to and following the events of 1949/50. As a supplement to our readings and seminars, the course will also include weekly film screenings, which will open with brief introductory lectures, situating each film in an historical, cultural, and cinematic context.
