- Das Modul besteht aus zwei Teilen: einer Vorlesung und einem Seminar:
1. Die Vorlesung bietet einen fundierten Überblick über Entwicklung und Gattungen der modernen arabischen Literatur von der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart hinein. Dabei werden repräsentative Gedichte und Texte in arabischer Sprache behandelt. (Prof. Dr. Georges Tamer)
2. Wir lesen den Roman Awlâd hâratinâ (Die Kinder unseres Viertels) von Naghîb Mahfûz. Der Roman wurde 1959 verfasst, durfte aber in Ägypten erst im Jahr 2006 erscheinen. (Dr. Cleophea Ferrari)

- The module consists of two parts, a lecture and a seminar:
1. The lecture provides a well-founded overview of the development and genres of modern Arabic literature from the second half of the 19th century into the present. Representative poems and texts will be treated in Arabic. (Prof. Dr. Georges Tamer)
2. We will read the novel Awlâd hâratinâ (Children of the Alley) by Najîb Mahfûz. Written in 1959, it could first be published in Egypt in 2006. (Dr. Cleophea Ferrari)
