Contents
In a relatively large number of studies, researchers have identified different subject and linguistic variables significantly affecting learners’ success in acquiring a second language (L2). In this course, we will examine strategies learners typically follow when they acquire the sound system, vocabulary, and grammar of a second language. We will explore how the acquisition of a second language is affected by factors such as age, gender, motivation, language use, and input, and we will discuss different methodological approaches to studying second language acquisition.
