- This seminar will introduce students to a broad variety of modernist literature across the main genres. The modernist perception of life as fragmentary, of the psyche as subconsciously determined, and of authorial narrative as artificial also influenced the style of writing in the early 20th century. In addition to the texts listed above, we will also study poetry by W.B. Yeats, T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, Dylan Thomas and others as well as short stories by writers like Katherine Mansfield and D.H. Lawrence. All additional readings will be made available at the beginning of the semester.
