Professorship for Computer Science (Numerical Simulation using Highest-Performance Computers)

The professor position in computer science for the numerical simulation on high performance computers was established in June 2003. Aim of the research is to develop new techniques for the efficient implementation of parallel numerical algorithms on high performance computers and the numerical simulations of technical processes.
To ease the implementation of parallel algorithms on high performance computers, it is necessary to develop suitable libraries by using expression templates and other new techniques. One application of such a library is the numerical simulation of lasers in 3D. Such simulations are very important for optimizing the quality and power of lasers.

Focus of research

  • laser simulation
  • simulation of particles in beam accelerators

  • high performance computing

Cooperation partners

  • verschiedene Firmen die Laser herstellen
  • ZAE Erlangen
