Quantitative Computed Tomography by Means of Spectral Detection

Spectral detection of X-rays might provide a significant contribution to the creation of several new medical applications in the field of computed tomography. For this purpose the interaction between the measurement quality of the detector and the resulting image quality is very complex. The complete CT-imaging chain starting with data acquisition with the detector and reconstruction to image quality assessment should be investigated in the scope of this project. A part of the investigation is to find out, if quantitatively exact CT is feasible by means of an accurate description and correction of the CT measurement. Therefore the imaging chain should be utilized for inspection and optimization of the properties of spectral measurements.
