Automatic Articulation assessment of children and young adults with Cleft Lip and Palate

Articulation disorders and morphologic alterations of respiratory system and speech organs count rank among the most frequent limitation of children and adults, who suffer or suffered from Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP). Diagnosis of certain articulation disorders is currently performed perceptually by expert listeners and focuses only on certain phonemes. Automatic speech processing (ASP) makes up a new opportunity in order to allow an immerse objective analysis and is not distressing for patients. ASP allows a detailed analysis and detection of different articulation disorders and was already applied to detection and quantization of different kinds of sigmatism.
