- Fields of study
- PF CBI-MA 1-3 (ECTS-Credits: 7,5)
PF LSE-MA 1-3 (ECTS-Credits: 7,5)
WPF ET-MA-VTE ab 1 (ECTS-Credits: 5)
- Prerequisites / Organisational information
Neben der Partikelproduktion (u.a. Gasphasensynthese, Fällung, Zerkleinern) werden Fragen der Formulierung (z.B. Beschichtungen) behandelt.

- Title:
- Product Engineering
- Credits: 7,5
- Prerequisites
- For admission to the specialization basic course on "Product Design" no special prerequisites are requested.
- Contents
- Product Engineering means the tailoring of well-defined product properties in chemical engineering and materials science. We start with the property function of particulate matter which relates the material property to the dispersed properties of the particles. We describe various routes of particle production including gas phase synthesis, precipitation and size reduction. Special emphasis is given to the formation and formulation of nanostructured products whose properties are tailored by interfacial engineering. As simulation tool we introduce and use population balances.
Examples are covering applications from chemical and pharmaceutical engineering and material science. The lecture addresses interests of chemical engineers as well as those of material scientists, chemists or physicists.
In parallel, we offer classroom exercises, basic technical practice sessions and computational exercises.
We encourage team work and presentation techniques by special exercises in small groups.
