- This course will provide students with theoretical as well as practical value. We will make an attempt to examine the status of multi-word phraseological units (e.g. idioms, collocations) and discuss their importance in other fields of linguistics, e.g. corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, etc. This semester, there will be a focus on phraseological units in language processing research. Among others, the following questions will be discussed: Are phraseological units processed holistically as prefabricated chunks or partially? Do non-native speakers process PUs differently from native speakers? As far as non-native speakers are concerned, does it depend on language proficiency levels?
