Content: 1. Theory: Interdisciplinary Innovations in Medical Engineering - What is an invention and what steps are needed to make it an innovation with focus on medical engineering? Real life examples, communication techniques for selling an idea, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship: Challenges and opportunities 2.Group brainstorming sessions on working on real life challenges from medical engineering especially on topics from 1. 3. Rapid Prototyping workshop on selected examples and best practices 4.Group project and presentation Compentence achievements: The main objective of the program is to develop out-of-the-box thinking for solving the most simple to the most complex real life problems in medical engineering. Interdisciplinary collaboration is needed in areas where complementary competences are necessary for not only implementation but also for conception. The program provides students and professionals a possibility to make use of the existing knowledge and resources for identifying and solving the problems in the medical engineering area.

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

The first step for an innovation is to identify a problem in an observation. With medical engineering there is a need for collaboration between various disciplines. Innovation Think Tank at Siemens Healthcare is a platform for stimulating interdisciplinary innovations within Siemens Healthcare. The founder and managing director for Innovation Think Tank is a Principal Key Expert with over 200 inventions filed with Siemens AG. www.siemens.com/innovationthinktank Content: 1. Organisatorisches:

The first introduction for this course will be held on October 10th, from 14:00 - 16:00 at Siemens (PSG A 301 at the Bismarckstr. 1, Erlangen)
