- Julian Barnes is one of the most renowned writers of contemporary literature. In this seminar we will study his novels A Historyof The World in 10 ½ Chapters(1989) (selections), Flaubert’s Parrot (1984), England, England (1998) and The Sense of an Ending (2011); we will also analyze Nothing To Be Frightened Of (2008) and Levels of Life (2013) and some selected short stories. Since Barnes is looked upon as a representative of ‚moderate English postmodernism‘, participants of this seminar should be interested contemporary literary theory.
