- Contents
- For quite a long time Ian McEwan has been regarded as the enfant terrible of contemporary English literature. As a young writer he shocked his audience by breaking taboos and by writing about sexuality and violence, meanwhile he belongs to the small circle of the most prestigious British writers. This seminar intends to study the many facets of McEwan’s literary work. After analyzing some of his early short stories we will concentrate on the following novels: Black Dogs (1992), Enduring Love (1997), Amsterdam (1998), Atonement (2001) and Saturday (2005). Our main focus will lie on the discussion of ethical problems in McEwan’s novels.
