- Das Hauptseminar Culture gehört im BA-Studiengang English and American Studies (neu) zum Hauptmodul A. Für BA-Studierende ist an diesen Kurs eine „Independent Study Group“ angeschlossen. Das Hauptseminar Culture gehört in folgenden Masterstudiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:

- “What do we see when we look at art?“, Dana Arnold asks in her Short Book about Art (2015).
This seminar is an introduction to the practice of looking at US-American fine art from the beginnings to our turn of the century.
We will discuss picture theory, for example by W.J.T. Mitchell, one of the pioneers of Visual Culture Studies, and we are going to analyze particular paintings.
