- This course is aimed at students of the Faculty of Engineering of all disciplines and is suitable as an elective subject in the Bachelor's and Master's degree.
Analysis (especially vector analysis), linear algebra
- Inhalt
- Methods of nonlinear optimization, combinatorial optimization and theoretical background.
Engineers typically design and improve systems.
Optimization methods help to identify interesting alternatives in this process.
So optimization can be seen as a tool for decision support.
In mathematical terms,
optimization (or mathematical programming)
is the study of maximizing or minimizing functions
subject to specific boundary conditions or constraints.
