Inhalt:

Lecture:
A stochastic analysis of chemical reaction networks (Gillespie algorithm, gene expression)
B interaction networks (protein-protein interactions, evolution of networks)
C population genetics (Wright-Fisher model, coalescent, recombination)

Tutorial:
theoretical and computer exercises relating to the contents of the lectures

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

The students

  • Have gained deepened knowledge concerning modelling in molecular biology.

  • are able to analyse and quantitatively model problems in molecular biology.

  • Have gained specialist competence concerning methods of stochastics.

  • are able to analyse and model stochastic concepts and biological examples within a predescribed time limit on the computer.

  • have problem oriented analytic skills.
