Contents:

Einführung in nicht-metallische, anorganische Materialien (Glas, Keramik, Composite). Es werden die materialwissenschaftlichen Grundbegriffe eingeführt und wesentliche Aspekte des Strukturaufbaus, der Mikrostrukturbildung, sowie der Herstellung und der anwendungsrelevanten Eigenschaften dieser Materialgruppe vorgestellt. Jedes Kapitel stellt zur Vertiefung exemplarisch ein wichtiges Anwendungsfeld vor (Gläser: optische Nachrichtenfaser; Keramik: medizinische Implantate; Composite: moderne Bremsensysteme). Die Gemeinsamkeiten und charakteristischen Unterschiede zu den Materialgruppen der Metalle und Polymere werden erläutert.
