Contents
The volutionary development of corpus linguistics in the last few decades has led to new insights into the nature of language. The teaching of foreign languages and in particular the teaching of grammar has remained relatively unaffected by these insights.
This class is concerned with Pedagogical Construction Grammar and an analysis of the ways in which English grammar is presented in textbooks used at German schools. It will be shown how the principles of Pedagogical Construction Grammar can lead to a presentation of grammar that is
  • more appropriate linguistically

  • much easier to understand for students.
