2) Surface structure determination using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED)
3) Spectroscopy of electronic states and molecular orbitals
4) Properties of thin oxide films on metallic substrates
5) Surface structures of bulk oxides using atomic force microscopy
6) Electronic properties of oxides
7) Fundamentals of molecular adsorption: processes and energetics
8) Electronic properties of adsorbed molecules
9) Supramolecular architectures on oxide surfaces
10) Identification of atomic species and chemical bonds by core-level spectroscopy
11) Bottom-up synthesis of molecular structures on surfaces
12) Fundamentals of molecular electronics

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Students

  • comprehend an interesting physical topic in a short time frame

  • identify and interpret the appropriate literature

  • select and organize the relevant information for the presentation

  • compose a presentation on the topic at the appropriate level for the audience

  • use the appropriate presentation techniques and tools

  • criticize and defend the topic in a scientific discussion
