2. Physical properties of single molecules: Chirality, Symmetrie, Electronic structure: From single molecules to molecular solids, Vibrational structure
3. Molecular design and building blocks: π-functionalized systems, Carbon nanotubes, Graphene, Molecular Switches, Molecular Motors
4. Nanocharacterization: Short introduction into vacuum science, Microscopy (STM/AFM), Electron spectroscopy and diffraction (LEED, XPS, XAS, NEXAFS, X-Ray Standing waves)
5. Molecules on surfaces: Adsorption/Desorption/Diffusion of molecules; Intermolecular interactions; Molecular architectures: From molecular self-assembly to bottom-up synthesis of covalent structures; Molecular Manipulation: Driving molecular machines; Electronic properties of molecules on surfaces
6. Molecular electronics: Mechanisms of electron transport; Electronic devices made of single molecules: Molecular Wires, Molecular Switches, Molecular Diodes, Molecular Transistors; Functional devices: OLEDs
