Inhalt:

The goal of this lecture is to give basic knowledge of optical waveguides and their applications. This will cover the following topics:

• Guidance mechanism (geometric and EM approaches)

• Photonic crystal fibres (solid-core, hollow-core, bandgap and anti-resonance fibres)

• Nonlinear optics effect in optical fibres

• Applications
