Geochemical proxies in palaeoenvironmental analysis
Foundation of sedimentary geochemistry with special consideration to major and trace elements, Rare Earth Elements (REE), stable and radiogenic isotopes.
Geochemical proxies in palaeoenvironmental analysis - lab:
Application of geochemical proxies to reconstructions of palaeoclimate as well as palaeoenvironmental conditions. Geochemical development of sedimentary rocks in Earth history. Palaeoclimatic history of the Earth as reconstructed using geochemistry.
Lernziele und Kompetenzen:
The students are able to
present and explain the foundations of sedimentary geochemistry with special consideration to major and trace elements, Rare Earth Elements (REE), stable and radiogenic isotopes
apply geochemical proxies to reconstructions of palaeoclimate as well as palaeoenvironmental conditions analyse, present and discuss the data
summarize the geochemical development of sedimentary rocks in Earth history. Palaeoclimatic history of the Earth as reconstructed using geochemistry
