  • Asymptotic approximation
  • Matched asymptotic expansion, theory of boundary layers

  • Method of multiple scales

  • Homogenisation versus averaging

  • Applications to differential equation models

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Students

  • are able to develop and analyse asymptotic models for multi-scale problems,

  • have critical understanding and practical handling with asymptotic simplifications for models with ordinary and partial differential equations, as well as setting up model hierarchies.
