Modellgestütze Entwicklung eines Safety Computer Modules

Presently deployed electronics infrastructures in automobiles consist of 80 to 100 electronic control units (ECUs) that are working in a distributed fashion. To overcome the increasing complexity of integrating additional applications into this system so called "domain computers" are being developed. Domain computers integrate functions from specific fields of application (e.g. vehicle safety, chassis control) into a single ECU, hence reducing the complexity of the distributed system. However, numerous challenges arise from the more complex ECU design. In order to support a safe and robust system behaviour time-triggered system paradigms are applied to safety-critical domain computers. Moreover, economic constraints require modular and flexible system architectures that allow the deployment of applications from different vendors. Both requirements rely on an in-depth knowledge of the non- functional properties of the relevant applications. Particularly timing properties are of utmost importance. The goal of this research project is to provide a methodical framework to support the development of integrated automotive embedded ECU architectures for mixed safety critical and non-safety critical applications.
