Inhalt:

This weekly seminar series is given by students, PhD students and post-docs affiliated with the biophysics group, and by external guests.

Topics are of particular interest to the research direction of the biophysics group and may include: mechanical properties of proteins, protein assemblies, biopolymer networks, cells and tissue; mechano-chemical signal transduction; biophysical techniques and methods; microscopy; dynamics of complex systems; immunology; skeletal and smooth muscle physiology; cancer; regenerative medicine.

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Students

• comprehend an interesting physical topic in a short time frame

• identify and interpret the appropriate literature

• select and organize the relevant information for the presentation

• compose a presentation on the topic at the appropriate level for the audience

• give a presentation to a scientific audience and use the appropriate presentation techniques and tools

• criticize and defend the topic in a scientific discussion

Organisatorisches:

Obligatory part of the advanced module (“Vertiefungsmodul”) Integrated Life Sciences for Bachelor and Masters students at the Biophysics Group.

Can be used as a substitute for “Physics in Medicine” seminars for all other undergraduate students (not affiliated with the Biophysics Group) who give a presentation. Note that the total number of undergraduate student presentations (outside a Bachelors or Masters project) is limited to 2-3. Early registration is highly encouraged.
