Inhalt:

In the seminar, journal papers on the phenomena of self-organization are discussed. The topics of interest include the assembly of simple building blocks into complex and functional materials, the pattern formation in bio-physical systems, or the spontaneous occurrence of order in other complex systems and networks. This is a joint seminar offered by members of the Institute of Theoretical Physics 1 (Nat. Fak.) and the Institute for Multiscale Simulation (Tech. Fak.). Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Students

• comprehend an interesting physical topic in a short time frame

• identify and interpret the appropriate literature

• select and organize the relevant information for the presentation

• compose a presentation on the topic at the appropriate level for the audience

• use the appropriate presentation techniques and tools

• criticize and defend the topic in a scientific discussion
