Inhalt:

The seminar will touch upon key insights of gravitational physics, in particular:

• Newtons theory of gravitation

• Space-time geometry

• Einstein equations

• Gravitational waves

• Black holes

• Cosmology

• Cosmological constant
  

Perhaps also some more speculative aspects, such as the Kaluza-Klein mechanism, and Brans-Dicke type theories will be presented. Consideration will be given to the theoretical developments and to their experimental verifications. Both, original publications as well as textbook excerpts, will be used for the preparation of the talks.

• comprehend an interesting physical topic in a short time frame

• identify and interpret the appropriate literature

• select and organize the relevant information for the presentation

• compose a presentation on the topic at the appropriate level for the audience

• use the appropriate presentation techniques and tools

• criticize and defend the topic in a scientific discussion

Sign-up is via StudOn, and will be open from Friday Feb. 9 to Thursday Mar. 1 2018. Language is German or English for BSc students, and English for MSc students.
