Inhalt:

Recent research papers from the field of granular matter are discussed in this journal club. The journal club is open to a limited number of physics students, who can take this course as a seminar. Possible topics for seminar presentations by students are, e.g., packings of non-spherical particles, granular entropy, pattern formation in granular matter, granular flows, non-equilibrium statistical physics. Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

Students

• comprehend an interesting physical topic in a short time frame

• identify and interpret the appropriate literature

• select and organize the relevant information for the presentation

• compose a presentation on the topic at the appropriate level for the audience

• use the appropriate presentation techniques and tools

• criticize and defend the topic in a scientific discussion

Organisatorisches:

The Journal Club is organized together with members of the technical faculty and the meetings alternately will be in the Physics building in the Staudtstraße and in the Institute for Multiscale Simulations in the Nägelbachstraße.
