Inhalt
Global Issues: This course is designed for students to develop and bring global perspectives into their classroom. Some of the topics covered in the curriculum will include the environment, social responsibility, human rights, racism and multiculturalism, media and health. Participants will examine the international context and will seek to identify and resolve fundamental questions. What will students learn?
  • To understand the connections among peoples, cultures and environments around the world

  • To look at global issues from different perspectives

EAP (English for Academic Purposes): Students will be given a textbook focused on global issues that has been designed for native English speaking students. The instructor will structure a curriculum that covers all the aspects of English academic skills, such as critical thinking, reading, speaking and making arguments, and listening/comprehension. Building upon those foundations, writing will be introduced through research papers and assignments, where thesis and points of proof are taught, as well as other key academic writing skills. Students are encouraged to engage with texts and taught the key skills required for academic discourses. Your grade will be based on:

  • Class participation and preparedness

  • A research paper

  • A presentation

  • Homework assignments

  • A journal due at the end of the term
