- In this self-study online course, students have an opportunity to enhance their overall academic English language skills. The reading, writing, listening, vocabulary and grammar tasks in each of the 6 units focus on formal language used in academic contexts. Example texts and exercises are taken from a wide range of subject areas including environment, education, employment, global issues and travel and transportation. The diagnostic test at the beginning of this course is designed to allow students to identify problem areas and to assess their language ability. Ideally, on completing the course students should be able to formulate complex ideas and have a good command of academic English in a variety of skills.
