Contents
ECTS information:
Title:
Biomedical Signal Analysis

Credits: 2,5

Prerequisites
The Biosig lectures and exercises do not have formal requirements. However, we expect you to have some knowledge about the following topics:
  • Basics of Physiology and Anatomy (High-school level)

  • Basics of Electrical Engineering:

    • Basic elements of electronic circuits (resistor, capacitor, inductor) and related equations

  • Basic math: Integration, Differentiation, Limits

  • Basics of Filtering:

    • Fourier Transform (qualitative understanding)

    • Basic filter types

    • z-plane (qualitative understanding)

Furthermore, some knowledge in the following topics will be beneficial to easily understand the content of the lecture:

  • Advanced filter concepts

  • z-plane math / z-transform / pole-zero plots

  • Frequency domain math / detailed understanding of Fourier transform and its properties

  • Laplace transform

  • Basics of Python (for the exercises)

If you want to refresh your knowledge on all aforementioned topics, we recommend the following lectures and online resources: Note that some of them go beyond the requirements of this lecture for many topics!

Signale und Systeme 1

Grundlagen der Anatomie und Physiologie für Medizintechniker

Video Series: Intoduction to discrete Control (and further videos from this channel, as general introduction to filter and z-plane math)

A visual introduction to Fourier Transform

Udacity Python Course Course materials from the Stanford "Introduction to Scientific Python"

Contents
This lecture presents the fundamentals of (a) the generation of biosignals of the human body, (b) measurement of those biosignals, and (c) methods for the analysis of biosignals.
Due to the current corona situation, the lecture will take place digitally. For more information on how to log in to the digital rooms, please visit our associated StudOn course (see link below).
