Contents
The lecture is an introduction to the design with polymeric materials. Based on the molecular structure the influence of static and dynamic load and of thermal conditions on the mechanical behaviour of polymers is explained. The fundamentels of dimensioning, the effects of processing parameters and the influence of stress conditions and material properties are introduced. Different bracing methods are discussed as well as machine elements made out of polymers. The lecture is closing with a comprehension of different computer aided design methods and important environmental aspects in comparison with design.
