Inhalt
This seminar is about improving things and about challenging (some aspects of) traditional language teaching on the basis of new and exciting insights in recent linguistic research. The way that grammar and vocabulary are presented to students in (some of) the textbooks used at Bavarian schools is far from ideal from a linguistic point of view. It is the aim of this class to develop some alternatives within the framework of construction grammar. The FAU Interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Lexicography, Collocation and Valency is planning to organize a TAG DES SCHULBUCHS this semester, to which students of this seminar are invited to contribute. This seminar is intended for students- who want to become language teachers and/or are interested in foreign language teaching- who have open minds, are willing to criticize and have an interest in linguistic theory.NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF CONSTRUCTION GRAMMAR IS EXPECTED, but participants should be familiar with the principles of grammatical description, collocational research and corpus analysis.Topics for papers will be available in the first session of the seminar.
